Will Uzui, Tanjirou, Zenitsu, and Inosuke Die in Demon Slayer Season 2?

In the arch of the entertainment district, Tanjirou, Zenitsu, and Inosuke accompany the Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui to Yoshiwara, Tokyo, in search of his wives. The red light district is shrouded in mystery, but the Demon Slayers don’t expect to meet brother-sister duo Gyuutarou and Daki, the joint holders of the Upper Rank Six position. Once the fight begins, Uzui is quickly poisoned while others are badly injured. As the violent showdown draws to a close, fans are left scratching their heads as Uzui, Tanjirou, Zenitsu and Inosuke survive the grueling ordeal. Do Uzui, Tanjirou, Zenitsu, and Inosuke die in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba?

No, Uzui, Tanjirou, Zenitsu and Inosuke do not die in ‘Kimetsu no Yaiba’. Inosuke was stabbed in the heart by Gyuutarou with his poison-laced sickle-like weapon in episode 16 of the second season, after which he lies motionless on the ground for quite some time. The primary holder of the Upper-Rank Six tells Tanjirou that Uzui’s heart has stopped after the poison has spread throughout his body, while Zenitsu lies helplessly under the rubble waiting for his death.

While it appears that Inosuke is dead when Zenitsu uses divine speed to nearly sever Daki’s head, the Wind Breathing user joins his friend and says that poison has no effect on him. Inosuke also adds that he can move his organs around his body, so Gyuutarou never managed to stab his heart. The momentary interaction makes it clear that Inosuke and Zenitsu suffered no life-threatening injuries before the higher rank demons were killed.

Meanwhile, Tanjirou isn’t hurt that badly either, but that changes during the fight against Gyuutarou when he is stabbed in his mouth with the demon’s poisoned weapon. However, Uzui is in a terrible condition as he has lost one arm and the poison is slowly spreading through his body. When they are all about to be beheaded, Gyuutarou and Daki, the chief holder of the Upper-Rank Six, use the Bloodsword as a last resort. As clarified above, no one except Uzui has suffered life-threatening injuries so far. However, the cliffhanger ending of episode 17 of the second season doesn’t make it clear whether the Demon Slayers survive or not.

In the last moment of the episode, Uzui runs to Tanjirou to protect him from the blood sheets. Tanjirou has yet to confront Muzan Kibutsuji for killing his family and turning his sister into a demon. Therefore, his sudden death makes no sense at this point and does not help the premise of the dark fantasy series in any way. Since his passing will ultimately render the show’s central story meaningless, it is therefore guaranteed that Tanjirou will survive Gyuutarou’s attack. However, the same cannot be said about his friends Inosuke and Zenitsu, who have accompanied him in all his adventures until now.

So the only credible answer of Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Uzui’s fate comes from Koyoharu Gotouge’s manga series that serves as the show’s inspiration. Although Zenitsu and Inosuke will be badly injured in the attack and will need Kakushi’s help to recover from his injuries, they will survive. Meanwhile, Uzui, who has suffered the worst wounds, will fight for his life. The poison will take away his ability to speak.

However, to free the Sound Hashira from the poison running through its veins, Nezuko will use the Blood Demon Art. Uzui, who has already lost an arm and an eye, will somehow survive the whole ordeal and retire. So, to sum it all up, fans of Demon Slayer can rest assured that no one will die after the end of the battle with Gyuutarou and Daki.
