Top 10 Facts About One Piece Mihawk

Mihawk is arguably one of the most interesting and powerful characters in One Piece. He is the first Warlord to appear in the series and the only reason I went to watch it. The fact that 3 swords against 1 blade had such results I’m sure he would have beaten Zoro with a goddamn toothpick. Although he showed up early, his screen time is still short so we don’t even have enough information about him or his past

What we do know is that Dracule Mihawk is a famous pirate, known as the strongest swordsman. He was one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea (Since the Warlord system was demolished). He became Zoro’s “Goal” and is the main character in Zoro’s success story. Because he is not only his rival, but also his teacher. There are several little facts about Mihawk in the series and so today we are going to talk about 10 facts about Mihawk that you should know as a one piece fan.

10) First Warlord To Be Introduced

Mihawk first appeared in the story in the Baratie arc as one of the seven warlords. In doing so, he became the first warlord to appear in the Series. This was very necessary because it kind of established a foundation regarding the powers that all warlords have. This raised the expectations of all viewers as he defeated Zoro with a small knife.

9) Mihawk destroyed an entire pirate fleet for fun.

Dracule Mihawk’s first entry was quite spectacular as it was proven that his powers knew no bounds. This news was brought to the viewers by Don Krieg and Gin In the Baratie arc. According to Don Krieg, Mihawk managed to wipe out their entire pirate fleet, which was known to be the largest in East Blue. Mihawk almost effortlessly finished their crew, including their flagship.

But at this point you’d think Mihawk destroyed about 50 of their ships, there must be a reason for that, right? Did he hold a grudge against them? Or maybe they got into a fight with Mihawk? And the answer is, he had nothing else to do, so he just destroyed it “for fun”. He didn’t go out of his way to specifically destroy their fleet, He just destroyed it because it crossed his path, that’s all!

8) Multiple titles

Mihawk is known to have many titles. Most characters in One Piece know him as the world’s greatest swordsman or simply “Hawk’s Eye”. However, Oda also planned to give him another epithet which is “clairvoyant.” But later he did not go along with this title in the official story. This indicated his powers as a clairvoyant is one who can foresee everything. Everything, including the future. This means that Mihawk could be a user of Future Sight Observation Haki.

7) A lone wolf

Mihawk is a pirate, but he has no crew. And there are only a few pirates in the series that work without a crew so far. He is seen traveling alone, cutting things that come in his way. Of all the former warlords, Mihawk is one of two characters without a crew (the second character is Edward Weevil, Whitebeard’s self-proclaimed son)

6) Owner of The Black Blade – Yoru

Currently, Mihawk is the only character in One Piece to wield a black blade. He is in possession of one of the 12 Supreme Grade swords. He calls it Yoru. This blade is known to be blackened by the constant injection of Armament Haki. However, it is still unknown whether the black state of the sword was caused by Mihawk or if it turned black even before he took ownership of the sword.

Later in the Thriller Bark arc, Zoro becomes the second person to possess a black blade called Shusui. Later in the Wano arc, he returns it to Wano land and instead gains ownership of an even stronger sword, Enma, which becomes Shusui’s replacement.

5) Mihawk’s Bounty is still unknown

This is something I never paid attention to, but it turns out that despite being one of the most powerful characters in One Piece Mihawk, the bounty is unknown. As a warlord, his bounty was frozen because of his status. Although Mihawk’s bounty showed up on the screen a few times, the bounty numbers weren’t displayed!

After losing his position as a warlord, Mihawk’s bounty will be re-evaluated just like all other former warlords. Obviously his bounty was already high and will be even higher now, possibly about the same as Blackbeard. Regardless, his bounty is theorized to exceed a billion berries.

4) Why is Mihawk a warlord?

Even though warlords are one of the three great powers along with the naval headquarters and the emperors. Once you start noticing his powers, you will realize that he can easily be called an emperor. Not to mention that he had constant duels with Shanks and is not yet known to be defeated. He maintains a friendly rivalry with Shanks.

However, his reason for being a warlord would be sheer laziness. He just needs the title to live peacefully and without interruptions. While he hardly cares or respects the world government.

3) Mihawk has never been harmed.

So far, there are over 1000 single-piece episodes, and Mihawk has a large share of the appearances in combat. However, he has so far been unharmed throughout the series. He even took part in the Summit War in Marineford. In which sat several powerful people. And they all got injured. Everything but Mihawk! In other words, he hasn’t been pushed to the limit of his power in the series so far.

2) Better teacher than the Dojo.

Besides being the best swordsman, he is also a great teacher. After two years of training Zoro, he is said to have accomplished more than the dojo has ever done. Zoro worked in this dojo for many years, but his training with Mihawk proved to make Zoro more powerful. Zoro was really able to push himself while training under Mihawk.

Zoro admitted this after training with Mihawk during a conversation with Pica. (In The dressrosa arc, Pica is the odd-voiced officer of the former Donquixote Pirates). Zoro says he’s still not far from Mihawk’s level of swordplay.

1) He was the hype of Grand Line.

Luffy’s first goal was to enter the Grand Line, and it was all about hype when pirates were seen refusing to even get near the Grand Line. The whole hype was only due to the presence of Mihawk. As he travels around the sea in a box-shaped raft. He stayed around the main line for a while, destroying any ship that came his way. This made the entire Grand Line sound more dangerous than it actually was.
