Levi Ackerman is one of the most popular characters from Attack on Titan. The series is in the second part of the final season. It has already reached insane heights of popularity. The final episode of this season is scheduled for April 4, 2022 and fans are eagerly awaiting it. Over the years, anime has slowly become part of the mainstream media. Still, this series has reached new heights this year. So Levi Ackerman is one of the best characters in the anime; here we look at the other anime characters who are just like him.
People who may not even watch anime seem to know all the main characters of Attack on Titan, especially Levi. He is a unique character in the sense that he defies traditional anime styles. Levi is the squad captain of the Special Operations Squad in the Survey Corps. He is also known as mankind’s strongest soldier against Titans. Levi’s personality and the complexity behind his actions have a lot to do with his popularity. He is obsessed with cleaning, even wiping his knife during combat, and the reason for that can go back to his childhood. Levi doesn’t hesitate much before killing, and he always has a direct attitude towards things.
A character like Levi is hard to find, but not impossible. In this article, we list characters from various anime who are just like Levi. Hopefully this is a good introduction to new anime to keep on your watchlist!
1. Close by
Death Note is another iconic anime that most people start their anime journey with. Many fans compare Levi and L’s personalities for similarities. However, L will go much further to achieve his goals than Levi. The detective, who is looking for KIRA, is not above fooling others about his own intelligence in order to obtain information. Near, on the other hand, is eerily calm and emotionless compared to L. Near was his protégé. He always tries to maintain an alien aura about himself. But even he has his own eccentricities in private, just like Levi.
2. Riza Hawkeye
Riza Hawkeye is a lieutenant officer in the Amestrian State Military in the Fullmetal Alchemist anime series. She is a decorated sniper from the Ishvalan War and is titled ‘The Hawk’ due to her abilities. Riza is stone cold and quite direct in her intentions, which can make her come across as cruel to some, just like Levi. She has a calm way of life and a hard approach to life. However, she only acts like this because she cares so much about her loved ones. Riza shares Mustang’s sense of wanting to rise to the top to protect those below them. Riza deeply regrets her past actions during the Ishvalan War and doesn’t necessarily enjoy working as a sniper for the military. She just feels that her role is necessary.
3. Takehisa Hinawa
Fire Force’s Takehisa Hinawa is another lieutenant who is similar to Levi Ackerman and Riza Hawkeye. His fighting style also includes firearms. He has a supernatural ignition ability that allows him to control the heat and sparks of the unloaded bullets he fires. Takehisa can then direct the bullets through the air as he pleases. In addition, he has a no-nonsense attitude and, just like Levi, he always puts his duty first. He has no sentimental or silly side. He talks very quickly about any juniors he sees slacking off. Aside from his lack of fashion sense, inadvertently on his part, Lieutenant Takehisa is a conscripted soldier.
4. Giyu Tomioka
Giyu Tomioka is the current Water Hashira and a member of the Demon Slayers Corps. He is the one who convinced Tanjiro to become a demon slayer. Giyu is also the master of the same breathing technique as Tanjiro Kamado. He is strict and has a very professional demeanor. This makes him a bit of a loner and has trouble making friends, a trait with which he is often teased. Giyu was the first Hashira to appear in the series and tried to defeat Nezuko until Tanjiro’s resistance made him give up. He has no wrath towards them and is certainly on the right side. While some may find his personality monotonous, it’s something that makes him look like Levi.
5. Touka Kirishima
Touka Kirishima, also known as the Rabbit Ghoul, is one of the main characters in Tokyo Ghoul. She has experienced a lot of misery all her life because of her circumstances. Touka and her brother Ayato lost their father to CCG researchers. After that, the two siblings went their separate ways in life. Touka’s fighting style is fast and aggressive, relying more on her speed as she doesn’t have much brute strength. However, that doesn’t stop her from destroying her opponents. Touka later becomes an ally of the main character Kaneki. When Kaneki first struggled to become a creep, she had no qualms about shoving a bloody piece of meat in his face to get him to eat. Her ruthless personality and strict outlook on life are certainly comparable to Levi’s.

6. Kento Nanami
Jujutsu Kaisen is another recent anime that has gained popularity worldwide. Kento Nanami is a side character in the series but has become quite popular with fans due to his pessimistic personality. He is a skilled jujutsu wizard who must take care of Yuji Itadori and show him the tricks of the trade. Nanami has no time for foolish optimism or distraction from his work. He once left a jujutsu wizard to become a payroll man, but found that job equally exhausting, if not more so. His no-nonsense and pragmatic attitude to life is very similar to Levi’s. Nanami feels like the only responsible adult in the Jujutsu Kaisen series. When powerful enemies show up, he will always insist on taking over Yuji’s fight as he is the adult who should protect the kids.
7. Uryu Ishida
Uryu Ishida from Bleach is an archer of the Quincy tribe who is always sure to hit his target. He is strict and sometimes quite tense because he carries the weight of the honor of his entire tribe. He is the only surviving member of the Quincy’s. Uryu also has a similar role to Levi in terms of his relationship with Ichigo Kurosaki, the main character. He prefers to fight by the book and would much rather plan the entire offensive before executing it. Aside from more comedic relief and filler moments, Uryu Ishida shares most of the similarities with Levi Ackerman in this list.
8. Jin
Jin is one of the main characters in the beloved Samurai Champloo series. He is drawn to be the calm, collected and cool among the trio. Jin is very level-headed and always fights by the book. His fighting style even got him into trouble for not being flexible enough in real fights. Although he is a Ronin, Jin embodies everything it takes to be a samurai, with his own strong sense of justice compared to his traveling companions. Even though he has a troubled past, he always masks it with an air of dignity. Both Jin and Levi are very skilled with their swords and also know them very well. They are not arrogant, but they certainly share their confidence, and as they should with their fighting skills.
9. Thorfin
Thorfinn is fast, deadly and always means business (Vinland Saga)
Thorfinn is the main character of the anime, Vinland Saga, a former warrior of Askeladd’s band and the son of Thors. He follows Askeladd’s orders, unlike Levi, who is a captain in the army. That’s about the only difference between the two as the rest of their features are almost the same. Even both of their backstories are tragic. We all know that Levi’s mother died when he was young. Likewise, Thorfin also saw his father die before his eyes when he was young. He is self-centered and unsentimental, just like Levi. In combat, he doesn’t use brute force so much as speed and precision. This allowed him to fight Thorkell and save it alive, a rather impressive feat.
10. Ginkgo
Ginko is the wandering protagonist of the Mushishi anime series. His real name is Yoki. He is a very mysterious man who is known to travel through many villages, constantly on the road. Ginko is on this path to help people with his knowledge in Mushi and solve related matters.
He is convinced that Mushi is not inherently evil. They’re just trying to survive. Like Levi, Ginko is very dedicated to his cause and doesn’t question it much. Both Ginko and Levi are good at what they do and do it because they believe that is their path.
