The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 Episode 9 Recap
At the times when the Shield Hero and his companions have to use the warp made by the dragon hourglass to travel to Sikul, Raphtalia is deliberately separated from the group by Kyo. He tells Naofumi that he plans to use her for experiments, just like Filo. Though the main character is naturally enraged, he can’t help it and soon ends up in Sikul along with Kizuna and Rishia.
Naofumi requests the hunting hero to bring them back to Mikakage so they can bring Raphtalia too. Unfortunately, Kyo has used his powers to shield the portal from the other side. In Sikul they are all received with great pomp, especially the Hunting Hero. When people learn that Kizuna has been held against her will in the Infinite Labyrinth, they become enraged and decide to take action. However, she stops them from doing anything and introduces everyone to Naofumi.
But when people find out that he is a cardinal hero from another world, they become suspicious of him. Naofumi can’t take it anymore as he is already upset after losing Raphtalia and decides to run away. However, he is stopped by Etnobalt, the carrier of the Vassal Boat. Kizuna introduces Naofumi to him. She also gets her shikigami Chris from him, after which the Shield Hero and Rishia learn that they can be used to track someone down.
Therefore, Naofumi uses his blood and Raphtalia’s hair to make another shikigami. They later manage to pinpoint their friend’s location and are shocked to realize Glass is somewhere nearby as well. They conclude that both were probably captured in the enemy country and need to be rescued as soon as possible. Using Ethnobalt’s ship, they reach one of the cities where Raphtalia was probably taken and begin their search. Meanwhile, Filo has to endure the torture of her captors.
The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 Episode 9 End: How do Naofumi and his friends manage to save Filo?
After reaching the enemy nation, the Shield Hero and his companions waste no time looking for their friend. As they discuss various possibilities, Naofumi hears a familiar voice and starts running towards it. Kizuna and Rishia follow him, eventually stopping for an exhibit where they see Filo. She is forced by her captors to sing for the amusement of the crowd, which naturally enrages the Shield hero.
He is about to kill everyone responsible for Filo’s current condition, but is luckily stopped by Rishia and Kizuna. They all put their heads together and came up with a much less confrontational plan. They visit the room where Filo is being held and manage to find her at night. However, the hunting hero realizes that the kidnappers have used a powerful talisman to prevent her from breaking and transforming her cage.
When Kizuna uses her powers to free Filo, she appears to be perfectly healthy. However, her captor arrives there unexpectedly to prevent them from taking Filo. By this time, Naofumi has lost his temper and uses his shield powers to put the kidnapper in his place.
Is Raphtalia dead or alive?
After freeing Filo from her captors, Naofumi and his friends spend the night in the jungle. The next day they find prize money posters for information about Filo. Fortunately, her captor didn’t see the faces of the Shield Hero, Rishia, and Kizuna, so they’re safe. However, while observing the posters, Naofumi realizes that Raphtalia’s statistics are gone.
Rishia fears the worst while the Shield Hero remains stunned, as it could potentially mean she’s dead. However, the shikigami made with Raphtalia’s hair is still there. If she had died, the shikigami should have gone too. Therefore one can only conclude from his presence, that Raphtalia is still alive.
