The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 Episode 5 Recap
After finding Therese, L’Arc, and Glass in the cave while trying to enter the body of the legendary monster, Naofumi and his party begin to question whether they have anything to do with breaking Spirit Tortoise’s seal. However, L’Arc claims that they are there themselves to find the man responsible for all the chaos. Glass goes on to explain that he is trying to take control of Guardian Beasts in various worlds so that he can use their powers for his twisted goals.
When L’Arc offers Naofumi the chance to join forces and fight together, the shield hero refuses because of their rivalry. The two sides split up shortly afterwards as they try to achieve their goals. Naofumi confesses to Raphtalia that he cannot rule out the possibility that Therese, L’Arc, and Glass may have broken the seal of the Spirit Tortoise themselves. Meanwhile, Ost struggles with stealing people’s souls as she fights alongside her now, believing it served a higher purpose.
Realizing the painful moral dilemma that has been constantly worrying Ost for the past few days, Rishia offers all the emotional support she likely needs. Meanwhile, while Naofumi’s party searches for the Spirit Turtle’s heart, they come across a mysterious hourglass. Ost explains that it shows how many souls have been successfully transformed into the power of the Spirit Turtle. The soldier who observes the legendary monster from the outside is shocked to realize that the neck shows signs of regrowth.
When they ask Mirelia where the shield hero is, she explains that he has successfully infiltrated the monster’s body and is trying to kill it from the inside. She asks the soldiers to slow down the Ghost Turtle’s movements if he manages to grow his neck back. When Naofumi and his company’s quest for the monster’s elusive heart seems to lead them to a dead end, Ost uses her powers to pave a direct path to their destination. When they finally find the heart, they also meet the man L’Arc warned them about.
The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 Episode 5 Ending: Who is Kyo Ethnina?
Kyo Ethnina is one of the Vassal Wielders from the Glass world and is commonly known there as the Book Hero. He has tried to get his hands on the inscrutable powers of the Guardian Beasts so that he can use them according to his whims and fantasies. In pursuit of this goal, he has not only broken the Spirit Turtle’s seal, but has also used it as his pawn to unleash a wave of death and destruction. When he meets the shield hero and his company, Kyo doesn’t take them seriously and seems overconfident with his powers.
He doesn’t fight them and leaves after Ost makes it clear what the Ghost Turtle would have wanted in this situation. His calm demeanor towards his enemies shows that he is incredibly powerful and feels that Naofumi and his company are no match for his abilities. Meanwhile, his quick acceptance of Ost’s requests shows that he is quite intelligent and likes to plan others one step ahead.
Is the ghost turtle dead?
As soon as Kyo Ethnina leaves, Filo immediately delivers a painful blow to the Spirit Turtle’s heart. As is well known, Ost falls down and grabs her chest, clearly struggling with the immense pain. Seeing her in such a vulnerable state brings tears to Raphtalia’s eyes, but she knows she can’t stop it. With her weapon, she immediately cuts the heart of the dangerous monster in two, after which Ost seems to slowly die.
While Rishia repeatedly asks her to wake up, she finally opens her eyes. Naofumi realizes that the battle is not over. Ost explains that even with its head severed and heart dismembered, the Ghost Turtle will soon reawaken with its heart and head restored. To stop him for good, she sends Naofumi and his company into the deepest depths of the legendary monster, where they find Kyo Ethnina again.
Although Naofumi and Rishia have guessed it by now, he explains to others that they could have prevented the death of so many soldiers if they had killed Ost. He claims that she is not known to the Ghost Turtle, but that she is connected to the core of the monster in such a complex way that they can call her the Spirit Turtle themselves. He doesn’t elaborate on whether killing her is the only way to get rid of the Spirit Tortoise, but it looks like Naofumi and his party aren’t going to win the battle anytime soon, especially now that Kyo is there to fight them too. .
