The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 Episode 12 Recap
Just as Kizuna tries to learn and analyze Kyo’s final plans by talking to Yomogi, the countdown to the next wave stops altogether. It turns out that the Book Hero wasn’t trying to stop the interdimensional horde of monsters from invading their world, but was experimenting with circumstances that might make such an outcome more likely. When he succeeded, Kizuna and other heroes banded together to save their world.
Meanwhile, the Shield Hero was furious that Yomogi had backed Kyo, and now he’s managed to use the Spirit Tortoise’s powers to start a wave that could potentially hurt a lot of people. He is about to hit her when Raphtalia stops him at the last minute. Yomogi explains that she never knew Kyo would end up doing something so terrible, and now she’s willing to help the heroes find Kyo’s lab so they can fight him.
Before Naofumi can come up with a plan, Ethnobalt appears in her vassal boat to take the shield hero and his companions to Kyo’s hideout. With Yomogi’s help, they manage to find the lab, but when they enter, Kazuki’s companions, seeking avenging his death, confront Naofumi and his company. They have turned into chimeras – human beings fused by Kyo with a Byakko clone. Since Naofumi and his company don’t have much time, Raphtalia decides to end the fight quickly.
She uses her sword to deliver a direct blow to their neck. Although the three are seriously injured, they are still alive. But suddenly the sword one of them was carrying started to behave suspiciously, and Naofumi wasted no time forming a perfect shield around everyone to protect them. Luckily no one is hurt when Kyo’s lab explodes and destroys.
Just when it turns out that Naofumi and his friends can now find Kyo, he walks right in front of them. However, he is not the only one. It turns out that he has turned Kazuki into a Homunculus by fusing his corpse with the soul of the Mirror Vassal Weapon bearer and intends to use him against Shield Hero and his party. The Book Hero departs immediately afterward, leaving the Naofumi and his companions to decide how they intend to deal with the mighty Homunculus.
Raphtalia, Filo, and Yomogi volunteer to fight Kazuki, knowing that Kyo must be stopped as soon as possible. So they ask Naofumi to go ahead and fight the Book Hero so he can be killed before he does something terrible again. The Shield Hero summons Rishia to join him as Raphtalia, Filo, and Yomogi take on Kazuki.

He happily explains how he used the Ghost Turtle’s powers to carry out his twisted plans and leaves no stone unturned to offend the two friends. By this time, the Shield Hero has had enough and loses control.
He decides to use the Shield of Wrath, but is overwhelmed by its corrupting influence. It becomes clear that Naofumi is out of his mind, and eventually he even grabs Rishia by the neck.
