The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 Episode 1 Recap
After fending off a series of demonic invasions, Naofumi gains dominion over the village of Lurolana, the birthplace of Raphtalia. The shield hero soon finds allies and starts preparing for the coming wave. Meanwhile, Rishia is training hard so Itsuki’s party will eventually accept her, but her fighting skills are still questionable, and it’s clear she still has a long way to go. While Naofumi is just having a casual conversation with her, the people of the village are suddenly attacked by bat families. Raphtalia and Filo take matters into their own hands and within moments manage to take down the enemies.
However, for some strange reason, the countdown for the waves stops just after the arrival of these strange creatures. Naofumi cannot understand the two incidents, but of course realizes that there is a connection between the two, and he has to get to the bottom of things. Before he could begin his investigation, however, he was summoned by Queen Mirellia. Naofumi later learns that all the other Cardinal heroes have also been summoned to the urgent meeting by the Queen, who has terrifying news for them.
Mirellia reveals that the legendary monster Spirit Tortoise has finally awakened in the Spirit Tortoise Kingdom. It is widely known to bring untold disasters upon the world every few centuries. Even the monsters that attacked the Lurolana village before were also the result of Tortoise’s revival. Unfortunately, before Queen Mirellia can explain anything further, Itsuki, Ren, and Motoyasu argue that they must attend other important meetings and leave immediately. After they’re gone, she tells Naofumi that the legendary monster has already crushed several dominions in the Spirit Tortoise Kingdom, and that it’s only a matter of time before it reaches Melromarc.
Naofumi realizes the urgency of the situation and immediately springs into action. Meanwhile, Raphtalia, having seen Rishia’s desperation to grow stronger and join Itsuki’s party, proposes that she become a slave to the shield hero, which will give her some special abilities. When Naofumi hears this, he asks Raphtalia to let Rishia make the last call. If Rishia listens to him, she immediately agrees to become Naofumi’s slave and gets an EXP boost. The shield hero’s company then heads to the Spirit Tortoise Kingdom.
The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 Episode 1 Ending: Are Itsuki, Ren and Motoyasu Dead or Alive?
En route to the Spirit Tortoise Kingdom, Naofumi and his allies encounter the refugees fleeing the indiscriminate violence unleashed in the region. As they cross a group of the huge hordes of humans, they hear about Itsuki, Ren and Motoyasu, the three cardinal heroes who lose their lives in battle. As soon as Rishia hears this, she just jumps out of the moving car and starts crying for Itsuki, who she has been desperately wanting to join for quite some time.
Naofumi notices her very sensitive condition and realizes that he needs to get concrete information about this so that he can handle the situation in the best possible way. So he contacts Fitoria through Filo, who tells his party that the three cardinal heroes are still alive and that the news of their deaths are just rumors. When Rishia finds out, she finally relaxes a bit, and Naofumi encourages her by openly admitting that the loss of Itsuki, Ren, and Motoyasu will also leave him vulnerable, as Fitoria has warned him that she will kill all the heroes if she that do not cooperate.
What does Naofumi’s party think when they arrive at the Spirit Tortoise Kingdom?
The situation is barely normalized when the refugees and Naofumi’s party are once again attacked by a huge horde of bat families they had previously encountered in the village of Lurolana. As if this wasn’t bad enough, they soon discover another group of strange monsters approaching them from the ground. Naofumi gives Rishia the responsibility of guiding the refugees to a safer place, while he, along with Filo and Raphtalia, begins to fight back.
However, it soon becomes apparent that they will lose the battle in the long run if they don’t resort to desperate measures. That’s why Naofumi uses the Wrath Shield and manages to turn the tables in moments. As the shield hero triumphs again, he is approached by a mysterious hooded woman who asks him to kill her for some inexplicable reason.
