The recent announcement confirmed the release date of The Rising of The Shield Hero season 2, bringing it one step closer to its premiere. The anime has been known for its brilliantly executed plot and animation since its first season premiere. When it was so well received, it was only a matter of time before it was renewed for Season 2. Previously, the franchise had only left vague details about the anime’s release date. The anime is based on Aneko Yusagi’s light novel series illustrated by Seita Minami. It was published in 2013 by Media Factory under the MF Books imprint. So far, the light novel has been compiled into 22 parts over time. All volumes have been translated and republished by One Peace books. Following the success of the books, Kinema Citrus adapted it for an anime adaptation in 2019. The anime lasted for 25 episodes which aired on various channels in Japan. The Rising Of The Shield Hero Season 2 Plot
When Naofumi Iwatani, an ordinary student, is summoned as one of the four heroes of the world, he receives the legendary shield instead of an assault weapon. Immediately after being summoned, he is falsely accused by the princess of assault. He soon joins forces with Raphtalia, Filo and Melty to protect the humans from the waves. After his success in Season 1 with the help of the Queen of Merlomark, he recovered his honor and acquired his own territory. However, in a land east of Merlomark, the “Spirit Turtle” is resurrected, confirming that a massive disaster is about to happen.
Naofumi is ordered by the queen to subdue the spirit turtle. So he moves further east with the addition of a new member, Lithia. When he reaches the land, he meets the king, who tells him that the Spirit Turtle has been illegally resurrected by a girl. Will Naofumi be able to defeat the Spirit Turtle? And once he does, will he be able to find the brains behind this? Again, Naofumi must do everything in his power to protect those who are important to him.
The Rising of The Shield Hero Season 2 Release Date
A second season and third season of The Rising of The Shield Hero were announced at the Crunchyroll Expo, 2019. Later, the second season of the anime was scheduled for October 2021, but was delayed under certain circumstances. In another announcement in February 2022, it was revealed that the anime would eventually be released in April 2022. As of March 10, 2022, the release date of The Rising Of The Shield Hero Season 2 has been confirmed to be April 6, 2022. A new visual of the anime was released as part of the previous announcement.
Season 2’s opening theme is titled “Bring Back” by MADKID and the anime’s ending theme is titled “Yururenai” by Chiai Fujikawa. All images and details are available on the official website for you to view.
On February 10, 2022, the official trailer for The Rising of The Shield Hero Season 2 was uploaded. The trailer featured all the new and old characters that will be appearing in the upcoming season.
The anime will bring back all the main characters from the first season. Kaito Ishikawa voices the protagonist Naofumi Iwatani, Asami Seto voices Raphtalia, Rina Hidaka voices Filo, Yoshitaka Yamaya voices Itsuki Kawasumi and Maaya Uchida voices Melty. The cast is further joined by Kikuko Inoue as Mirelia and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Ren Amaki.
The animation production will be done by Kinema Citrus together with DR Movie. Most of the staff will resume their roles in the anime production. However, Masato Jinbo is directing the second season of the anime, replacing the previous director, Takao Abo.
