The Devil is a Part-Timer Season 2 Episode 4 Recap

After Gabriel leaves, Maou discusses his plans to rescue Ramus from him, regardless of the price he has to pay. He remembers what Suzune had told him about the Yesod Sephira, the legendary tree of life. According to the myth, the plant constantly creates the world and plays a vital role in establishing the balance important for sustenance. According to Gabriel’s words, it appears that the components of the world that rule the Yesod are in danger.

However, Suzune points out that there is no evidence that the Tree of Life actually supports life in the world. She also doubts the myth and feels that unfortunately it will have no consequences that Ramus stays with Maou and Emi. Alone with Emi, Maou confesses that he will gladly risk his life if it can guarantee Ramus’ safety. Emi is surprised because she has never seen Satan as putting herself in danger. But Maou explains that his sacrifice is not necessarily strange, as he is now raising her as a father.

Later that night, Ramus asks both Maou and Emi to sleep with her. While of course they both feel uncomfortable, they agree as she is adamant. To put her to sleep, Maou tells her a story about a man who was rescued by an angel. Emi soon realizes that he is telling a somewhat fictionalized version of his own story. After Ramus falls asleep, she asks Maou what happens to the man after he becomes king. Initially, Satan refuses to comment, but then points out that he became greedy. The next morning when they wake up, they find Gabriel standing next to them.

Maou knows they can’t win a fight against him, so he begs him not to take Ramus. Unfortunately, Gabriel won’t listen to anything and decides to kill Satan right away. Sadly, seeing him struggling to breathe, Ramus springs into action, claiming that Malkut told him he’s just another liar. He starts attacking her without any regrets. Once Maou is free, he asks Suzune to move him closer to where Alas Ramus and Emi are fighting Gabriel. Unfortunately, when he tries to help them, he loses his grip and begins to fall to the ground.

The Devil is a Part-Timer Season 2 Episode 4 Ending: What Lesson Does Emi teach Satan?

When Satan begins to fall to the ground at a very high speed, Emi can’t help but expect the worst consequences. Although he is her sworn enemy, it’s pretty obvious that she’s now starting to care about his well-being. As she screams, Ramus luckily manages to stop Maou just inches from the ground and save his life. Moments later, Emi decides to use all his powers. Unfortunately, even that isn’t enough to stop someone as powerful as Gabriel.

Unbeknownst to everyone else, he agrees to leave Ramus alone, on the condition that Emi never lets Satan have his way and endanger the human world. Emi naturally agrees to the question and Gabriel returns. Meanwhile, everyone has the false impression that Gabriel Alas took Ramus with him, because no one saw her after Emi decided to transform and take out her new sword. Unfortunately, it turns out that Ramus has fused with her previously broken sword and become one with it. She can transform back to her usual self and become the blade of Emi’s sword whenever she wants. Thinking he couldn’t stop Gabriel from taking Alas Ramus with him, Maou is depressed and could barely work at MgRonald’s.

Meanwhile, Emi meets Chiho and tells her the truth at a restaurant. They later return to Satan’s apartment and tell him the good news that Ramus is unfortunately still with them. Though happy, Maou pretends to be emotional after reuniting with his so-called daughter. Emi explains to Chiho that she wanted Satan to experience the pain of losing a loved one, as he was never held responsible for his past actions. Maou’s ambitious conquest to rule the world took an enormous amount of pain and hurt many innocent people, so making him feel the same pain that many had endured because of him was something she wanted him to feel.
