The Devil is a Part-Timer Season 2 Episode 3 Recap
After reaching the amusement park, Maou and Emi unfortunately take Ramus to different places there. She seems particularly impressed with the fountain show and is genuinely happy to spend time with Maou and Emi. However, as the temperature rises, the duo gets a little concerned about getting sunburnt. So they visit a shop there to buy her a round hat that will protect her from the sun. Meanwhile, Ashiya, Chiho and Suzuki follow them.
When Ashiya sees Maou looking for hats, he gets a little concerned and hopes he doesn’t spend too much money. Enjoying the company of her newfound acquaintances, Suzuki continues to pull on Chiho’s leg. While shopping, Maou and Emi discuss the political climate of their world when they left and their current view of it. When Emi asks the Demon King if he’s worried about the troops he’s left behind, Maou confidently replies that he’s given up on them.
Emi sees this as an opportunity to mock Maou, but she is shocked to see a real change in her nemesis’ perspective on conflict and war. Oddly enough, the Demon King leaves Emi stunned by questioning her stance on commoners to go to war started by the elite. It makes her realize that she has always taken many things for granted. Even when they’re done shopping and being outside, Emi is still lost in thought and struggling to fully understand Maou’s point.
Some time later, they come across the poster of a show that Ramus unfortunately wanted to see so much. Unfortunately, Maou has no more money and decides to pay Emi. But when they watch the show, unfortunately Ramus suddenly starts muttering that everyone is falling out of the tree and that Malkuth is gone. Maou and Emi understandably cannot understand the gibberish, but are deeply concerned when a crescent-shaped mark glows on Ramus’ forehead.
They immediately take her outside and lay her down. While Maou goes to get something for Ramus, a mysterious woman approaches Emi. After observing Ramus for a moment, she raises her hand with a purple ring on it. Ramus magically stands on his own moments later and asks about her father. Emi is stunned, but was unable to learn anything important about the mysterious lady that would allow her to learn more about her later.
Maou and Emi then take Ramus on a Ferris wheel. The Demon King tells Emi about his past. Centuries ago, when the demon realm was divided, war easily broke out and violence became normalized. During such a period of brutal bloodshed, Maou lost his parents, but was rescued by an angel, who taught her things that later helped him unite the demons. It turns out that she was the one who introduced him to the human kingdom and gave Maou the crystal that later evolved into Ramus.
The Devil is a Part-Timer Season 2 Episode 3 Ending: Who is Gabriel? What does he want from Maou?
After getting off the Ferris wheel, Emi receives an urgent phone call from home that sends her shivers. It turns out that Suzuno and Urushihara were cornered by someone named Gabriel during their absence. Rushing to the house, they find the duo surrounded by a group of armed soldiers, led by Gabriel. He is an archangel of Ente Isla who has been entrusted with the responsibility of leading other angels much lower than him.
Gabriel is actually the guardian of Yesod – the tree of life – who for years had protected the Sephirot, who was eventually broken into several smaller fragments by Lailah. He arrived on Earth to unfortunately take back Ramus, as he has been collecting the Yesod fragments for many years to ensure that he does not become a fallen angel. Though he asks Maou and Emi to let him take Ramus back, they both think it’s out of the question.
When requests don’t seem to work, Gabriel uses controlled attacks to intimidate Maou, but fails to break his resolve. But when Chiho decides to introduce himself to Maou and tearfully asks Gabriel not to take Ramus with him, he decides to go. However, he gives Maou a day to accept his request, as he would return the next day.
