Spy x Family Episode 5 Summary
As the forgers head to the Eden Academy to check the results of the student-parent interview, the superstitious events that unfold along the way make them nervous. However, the secret spy tries to keep his composure even though he is also quite concerned. When they look for Anya’s name on the list of selected students, they are disappointed to learn that she didn’t make it. Anya knows the importance of the result as it could very well dictate her future with her adoptive parents, so she feels the most disheartened of the three.
But just as the Forgers return to their home, they are stopped by caretaker Henry Henderson, who informs them that Anya is the top student on the waiting list. So she could eventually make it to Eden Academy, provided one of the selected students decided not to get admission. Over the next few days, the family anxiously awaits the delay of the final list. When Loid is called, he immediately begins to celebrate after telling his alleged family that Anya has made it to the final list.
They are soon joined by Franky, who is preparing for a party. The forgers and their guest then have lunch together. Later, Anya has an idea while watching the latest episode of her favorite spy show. She tells Loid that she wants to re-enact the same episode it was originally shot in. Franky claims that the castle is for rent and that they can use it to grant Anya’s wish. Loid contacts his peers and they make all the arrangements. Later that evening, the Forgers, along with Franky, board a seaplane to get to the castle.
Unfortunately, Anya believes that the experience of the show’s reenactment isn’t complete without the presence of the enemies and the servants. Losing no time, Loid reconnects with his peers to make the right arrangements. Although his request sounds absurd, Loid’s colleagues contact all the undercover agents in the nearby area to immediately assemble at the castle.
They are all told it will be an essential part of Operation Strix. Most of these agents are huge fans of Loid and are excited to work with him. They arrive at the castle shortly afterwards, where Franky informs them of their role in the entire reenactment. The action begins moments later when Anya is kidnapped by Franky, who acts as the villain. Loid begins his pursuit, but finds the secret agents posing as the villains’ henchmen in his path.
Though he does well to find the way to their master, he faces Yor for his final challenge. Being drunk since they all had lunch, Loid is very careful not to hurt her at first, but her superior fighting skills soon overwhelm him. Fortunately, she faints during the fight, and the undercover spy manages to save Anya, who is elated to have witnessed the full reenactment of her favorite episode.
Spy x Family Episode 5 Ending: Have Loid and Yor Started Developing an Emotional Connection with Anya?
Once the reenactment at the castle is finally over, the fireworks capture Anya’s full attention, and she’s overjoyed by the whole experience. Meanwhile, Loid is also momentarily overcome with emotions and wonders what all this means. While he’s not working out mentally, it’s pretty obvious that he’s starting to notice the emotional bond he’s formed with Anya over the past few weeks. The same goes for Yor.
It’s like the couple has worked alone all their lives, and they’ve most likely never felt emotional while working on any of their assignments, so understandably they’d be puzzled if that happens now. However, this isn’t the first time they’ve reacted in such a way. When Anya was asked awkward questions about her birth mother during the student-parent interview, Yor immediately begged the interviewer to stop.
She was soon joined by Loid, who also asked him to ask for something else, and when the interviewer refused to listen to them, he nearly punched him. His actions may have jeopardized Operation Strix, so an irresponsible decision by an experienced professional was rather odd.
But that all makes sense in light of the fact that, like Yor, he has developed an emotional bond with Anya. It’ll be interesting to see how things unravel in the future as the unlikely pair have never allowed emotions to dictate their actions while working. But how will that affect their future missions now that they have someone they care about deeply? Well, only time will tell.
