The Japanese manga series Soul Eater was created by Atsushi Ōkubo. The manga series got its anime adaptation and the first episode was released on April 7, 2008. Soul Eater manga was first published by Square Enix. The series was subsequently released as three separate one-shots. These one-shots were subsequently serialized in two of the Gangan Powered special editions and in one of Gangan Wing in 2003. The manga series then continued serialization in Square Enix’ Monthly Shōnen Gangan manga magazine from May 12, 2004 to August 12, 2013.
It was the only series that amazed fans. The only series that taught fans to hope and wait for the next season, even after 12 years have passed. “Soul Eater” is “the only series” that has left fans confused. Whether the release date for Season 2 is revealed this year or if there’s a second season, Soul Eater fans are still hopeful.
The anime series, directed by Takuya Igarashi, has a total of 51 episodes. Produced by Bones (the same studio as BNHA), Aniplex, Dentsu, TV Tokyo and Media Factory, the series may have a second season option. When will it be though? What could be the plot for Soul Eater season 2? Will the characters be the same? Questions that have been floating around fans for years, let’s take a look at the “possibilities” of the second season of Soul Eater.

Soul Eater Season 1 Recap
A 51-run episode, the anime series is also said to be a prequel to Fireforce. The Shinigami Weapon Meister Academy, better known as Shibusen, protects the world from evil that would otherwise drag the Earth into the abyss of fear and ensnare people to the brink of madness. And to prevent the creature of destruction (Kishin) from awakening, the academy founded by Shinigami trains Meisters and their human weapons. To keep it simple, the Shinigami Weapon Meister Academy is an organization that protects much-needed peace (even Shinigami-Sama wonders why it’s a university!).
To collect 99 misguided souls, that is the souls transformed into the eggs of Kishin, plus the soul of a witch, then the meisters and their human weapons can achieve everyone’s desired goals. For human weapons, the human-shaped weapons ie Death Scythe is the ultimate goal they want and for the meister to be able to hold a Death Scythe is a ranked honor. However, the last soul, the soul of a witch, is the biggest problem. Because the meisters and the human weapons have to confront a witch, many meisters die in the process. And if you can’t eat the witch’s soul, then the meister and their weapon must start from the starting point. Quite a task!
The first episode makes the audience curious, but also emotional at times (when it looked like Soul Eater would betray Maka) and so begins the journey of three. Looking at it, do you remember all the characters from Soul Eater?

Soul Eater Characters in Season 1
In any case, the characters of the series are not unpleasant. Except for the fact that Soul Eater’s VA had a more mature voice as opposed to how childish Soul Eater looks. Confused if Soul Eater is a character and not the name of the series? Well, they are both: Soul Eater (Evans), who is a human weapon for Maka and also the name of the series. Anyway, the other characters of the anime series Soul Eater are Maka, the other main character of the series and also a meister. She’s not your usual female lead. Her clumsiness is calculated. She is the brain of the two (Maka and Soul Eater). Voiced by Chiaki Omigawa, Maka Albarn appears from the first episode itself. Her human weapon, Soul Eater (Evans), is more like the brawn between the two. His twisted and sarcastic personality makes him interesting. Voiced by Kouki Uchiyama, Soul is one of the main characters.
Black☆Star is another of the protagonists and the meister of Tsubaki Nakatsukasa. His Japanese voice actor, Yumiko Kobayashi, has voiced him perfectly, knowing how much of a ‘smart pants’ he is! One of those instances where a female voice actress voices a male character on a series, Black-Star: Tsubaki’s human weapon can turn into a number of ninja weapons, be it a smoke bomb, a katana, or whatever. Tsubaki is voiced by Kaori Nazuka.
Death The Kid is another one of the protagonists, whose personality can never be described in one word. He’s a good kid with some weird additions. He has OCD and wants everything to be symmetrical. Be it an object or a human, Kid wants everything perfect that sometimes makes him imperfect. While he normalizes having a mental illness, Kid seems to be a little off socializing. He is mainly concerned with his task of collecting souls, even though he doesn’t have to because he is Shinigami’s son. Kid is voiced by Mamoru Miyano and controls two human weapons Patricia (Patti/Patty) – voiced by Narumi Takahira and Elizabeth (Liz) Thompson – voiced by Akeno Watanabe, as their meister.

The other major characters are Spirit Albarn, Maka’s father and a playboy. Albarn is also Shinigami’s Death Scythe – the mightiest of them all. Since the other characters are all fun and likeable, fans are wondering if there’s going to be a season 2 of Soul Eater with the same cast? The main question, however, is “will there be a season 2 at all?”

Soul Eater Season 2
While the anime series seems to be moving away from the manga’s point of view, it could actually be a good sign. There may be a small chance of a second season. The manga only came to an end in 2014. There are still volume chapters to pick from as the anime series ended in 2009. Despite some fans trying not to be optimistic about a second season, there’s still a chance the series will come out with a new season ( or not). Also no official statement about the same yet.
The introduction of the concept of Kishin Eggs in the anime series also featured scenes that made it look better that way. Episode 6 of the anime series is one such piece of evidence, introducing Black Needle Wavelength in the anime series and not in the manga chapters. Also, White-Star, Jack the Ripper, Don Al Capone and Lupine were made to be only thieves, not consuming souls. However, that was not exactly the case in the anime series. Many characters, who had to die, did not die and instead were left with only a few fatal injuries and they recovered.
Keeping the distant memory makes fans aware of the difference between the manga and anime story overlapping, and not until the very end. The anime may have deviated from the manga, but they are still sweet. Some of the concepts and scenes that were exclusive to anime could be distinguished. Keeping the fans in the dirt is just a glimmer of hope that next season will also take over the manga and take a different route. It is true that if the plot is stretched too much, the quality of the plot will be ruined. However, if everything runs smoothly, just like Season 1, why not.
Fire Force Manga has been confirmed as the sequel to Soul Eater as it ended. This means it was a second season of the Soul Eater story. The two stories certainly have many similarities, yet a direct sequel to Soul Eater Season 1 would be different. There is a lot for the Anime to choose from from the original manga.

When is the Soul Eater Season 2 release date?
Assuming that the anime series Soul Eater may come out with another season (Season 2), there’s a chance the series release date will be at least 2022 and/or 2023. The studio Bones has not released such statements regarding the series release date and predicting is the only option for everyone: “The announcement of Soul Eater season 2 could be made soon.” There is no official news about ‘no season 2’ or ‘Soul Eater season 2’.
So, with the hopes of getting the series renewed with a second season, Soul Eater is one of the anime series worth checking out. (for those who have yet to watch the series).
