Season 2 of Sonny Boy is long awaited and every viewer is getting excited to hear about it. The series gave us very nicely done 12 episodes in Sonny Boy season 1. The job is well done and all credit goes to Madhouse Studio who have given us many good anime series. Madhouse debuted in 1973 with the first series, Aim for the Ace! that ran for a year and was quite remarkable for a beginner. Since then it has continued to make series, and also this year it has got some new projects that are expected to be as awesome as ever. For this year it is planned to release some new series ‘Police in Pod’ and ‘Bibliophile Princess’† His recent works include ‘The vampire will die in no time’, ‘Takt Op. Destination’ and ‘Sonny Boy’†
Tact Up. Fate has ended, and so The Vampire dies in no time, none of them renewed with a season. However, Sonny Boy Season 2 is in high demand and the creators could release the series. Based on Season 1 revenue, a Season 2 announcement could be really profitable for the creators. Due to much anticipation, Madhouse is expected to announce this as this year’s project. But not everything happens according to what we expect. So we have a lot to dig into this matter and figure out if we’re going to get a renewed season of Sonny Boy or not.

About Sonny Boy
Sonny Boy is an original anime series that revolves around science fiction survival and belongs to the shonen genre. The plot of the series was written by Shingo Natsume, which was later adapted into an anime series. As mentioned above, the series was created by Madhouse Studio under the direction of creator Shingo Natsume. A team of producers contributed to the production, and that team included Motoki Mukaichi, Isao Ishikawa, Jitsurou Kikuchi, Kensaku Wada, Yuuko Matsui and Ayuri Taguchi. All the beautiful scenes and screen timing were made possible thanks to Shingo Natsume again, who provided the screenplay. It fell on local networks like Tokyo MX, KBS, SUN, BS Asahi and RAB. As for the international broadcast, it was licensed by Funimation and Medialink.
The series aired from July 16, 2021 to October 1, 2021 and released a series of 12 episodes. The plot is seriously very interesting and engaging as it involves the concept of different dimensions and a lot of sci-fi stuff. The plot revolves around the main character named Nagara, who transfers along with his classmates and student Nozomi. Mizuho, the mystery man, goes with them and is transported to an alternate dimension. Entering “This World” they discover how everything is different and that it has its own set of physics rules. They all try to return to their homes and realize that they also have supernatural powers. However, in the midst of all the chaos and events, they find it difficult to manage their own interpersonal relationships.
About Nagara
Nagara is the main character of the Sonny Boy series and is the third year junior. As a high school student, Nagara is a very young boy and she looks quite good. He has long black wavy hair with brown eyes. Throughout the series, you can see him wearing his school uniform which is made up of a white shirt and blue tie. As for his personality, Nagara quickly gets bored of his surroundings and wants some other things to keep him occupied. In fact, before being transferred to this mysterious world, he got so bored that he wanted to end his life. His social skills are really bad, and he can’t even communicate well with his only family members. Also at school he does not talk to other students and keeps his distance while giving them a cold attitude.
While in the normal world, he was an ordinary man, but after he got into that alternate dimension, he got some powers. As of now, the powers he developed do not have a specific name, but are used to describe it as “Warp” or “Escape”. However, his powers are described as he used them to create “This World” with different sizes and rules. He also wrapped himself and others in the previously created “This World”. As the series progressed, he realized how to use his powers to walk through different dimensions. He also realized that if he can do this, he can take his friends and finally come home.
Previously in Sonny Boy season 1
The series started with Nagara lying on the floor of the school and scrolling on his cellphone. Then Mizuho comes into the picture and asks what the pleasure is to lie on the floor like this. It seems like their school is already in the other dimension when they talk about superpowers. Wondering if it’s “Utopia” or “Hell”, Mizuho looks out the window of the school, which is all black. It was a super regular summer vacation from high school where main character Nagara is studying. One fateful day, the entire school was mysteriously transported to another dimension. At first, all the students were very surprised and shocked about the event, but later they began to understand this unusual event.
They try to find ways to return to their home, but fail every time. In the very first episode, it seems like they’ve already lost hope, as everyone seems very homey and calm, hoping it all ends soon. The environment looks very dull, as do the characters, and the initial plot is very slow. However, a lot has happened in the series and all the characters eventually get some kind of super powers that helped them escape the place. Eventually they all came home, but sadly they all lost their memories of all those times. Except for the protagonists Nagara and Mizuho, who had the memory of each event.
Sonny Boy Season 2 – Will It Happen?
The Sonny Boy Season 1 premiered on July 16, 2021, aired until October 1, 2021, and ended with 12 episodes. It showed some excellent work from the Madhouse Studio, which was more or less expected, as the previous works say it all. It’s only been a few months since Season 1 ended and so far we have no updates on it. Even the latest projects for 2022 announced by Madhouse Studio do not contain the name of Sonny Boy Season 2 anywhere. As far as the words of the creators go, they are also keeping a low profile as of now, and there is nothing to say on this matter.
An extension also depends on the writer Shingo Natsume and his perceptions about the future of the series. As for Natsume, he will never lose the chance to release the details when they plan to resume the series with a season 2. So, based on no official words from authorized sources, let’s put the matter to rest assuming we don’t get season 2 now.
Sonny Boy Season 2 Speculation
The officials of Sonny Boy related to the anime series haven’t said anything so far, but that doesn’t stop us from speculating about the possibilities. Sonny Boy Season 1 ended with a finale scene where Gagara, along with Mizuho, appears to be back in their original dimension. At first glance, everything seems fine, because this was their motive throughout the series. But if we look closely, we can see that the plot gave a very loose ending. The conclusion did not give the reason for intact memories of Nagara and Mizuho, while the rest of the students went blank. This gives us an opening to think we have a lot of catching up to do here.
In addition, the series was a super success and there was a good response. We can just say that the production house has managed to get quite a bit of revenue out of it and innovation will be profitable for them. However, we still can’t say anything until an official announcement comes out. We can only hope for the best and can assume that season 2 of Sonny Boy will be released in 2023, and if not, it all depends on the creators.
