Shikimori Isn’t Just a Cutie Episode 6 Recap
After coming from the river trip, Izumi rests at his house. When Shikimori calls him, he informs her that he has sunburn and cannot go out for a while. Just as his girlfriend expresses her disappointment, Izumi’s eyes fall on his television. The reporter talks about the fireworks festival that will be held in the region next weekend.
Although Izumi had no intention of going anywhere, he immediately asked Shikimori if she would like to go to the festival with him. The couple then makes plans for their next date and begins to prepare for the next few days. Shikimori wears her grandmother’s yukata to the festival and looks stunning. After meeting, the couple plays the shooting game in which Izumi tries to win a hug for her friend.
However, when he fails, Shikimori wins the toy and gives it to Izumi. The duo has plenty of time and they end up playing in several stalls. Although Shikimori hated eating sweet things in the past, she developed a fondness for them after being with Izumi for several months.
So when he eats cotton candy, she’s more than happy to go with him. The pair are soon joined by their friends Hachimitsu, Inuzuka and Nekozaki. While the girls don’t stop complimenting Shikimori’s dress, Inuzuka suggests to Izumi a game of scooping goldfish. Shikimori’s friend is more than happy to fight him. While Hachimitsu, Nekozaki and Shikimori look on, Izumi is dominated by Inuzuka in the game.
It enrages the titular protagonist, who vows to avenge her boyfriend. However, she doesn’t realize that Inuzuka has much more experience with the game and easily overwhelms her. But Shikimori refuses to give up and keeps trying. But when Hachimitsu and Nekozaki notice that the fireworks are about to start, they force her to leave it to them and send her with Izumi so the couple can spend some time together.
Shikimori Isn’t Just a Cutie Episode 6 Ending: What Surprise Does Izumi Give Shikimori During the Fireworks Festival?
Izumi’s father has told him about a secret place where he and his girlfriend can enjoy the best view of the fireworks without being bothered by anyone. Therefore, he planned to surprise her by taking her to the secret place. Unfortunately, Shikimori’s feet get bruised during the festival, so she can barely get up by the time Izumi tells him about his plan. However, he refuses to give up.
Izumi carries his girlfriend on his back and, despite her reluctance, walks to the top of a slope. Once there, the couple finds a chair that has just been placed in the right direction to observe the fireworks. When Shikimori asks why he was so determined that he even went so far as to take her such a long distance, Izumi confesses that he genuinely wants to see her happy.
Once settled in their seats, the duo are mesmerized by what they see before them. Shikimori confesses that she was waiting for Izumi’s phone call last year so they could go to the festival together. But he never actually called her, and the duo stayed at their house instead of having such a great night. Izumi regrets not calling her then.
However, they soon put the past behind them and enjoy a romantic evening together. When Izumi begins to carry her down the slope, he misses a step and is about to fall with his girlfriend. Fortunately, his father is there and catches him at the right time. He reveals that he was there the whole time with his mother, watching the fireworks. They didn’t want to disturb Izumi and Shikimori as they seemed to be having a great time together.
