Inspired by a Japanese light novel series of the same name written by Shinji Cobkubo and illustrated by K Akagashi, ‘Sabikui Bisco’ or ‘Rest-Eater Bisco’ is an action-adventure anime. After plague-like winds with mushroom spores spread across post-apocalyptic Japan, all that’s left is rust. Although Bisco Akaboshi is considered a dangerous criminal, he works diligently to enrich the soil by spreading fungi. So when he hears about the horrors unleashed by rust-spreading mushrooms, he teams up with Milo Nekoyanagi, a young doctor, and embarks on a quest to find the panacea to the problem in the wastelands of Japan.
The show has received critical acclaim for its well-executed action-packed fight scenes and unique premise. Unsurprisingly, then, it now has quite a worldwide fan following. After the first episode ends, you may be wondering when ‘Sabikui Bisco’ returns with new episodes, in which case we’ve got you covered.
Sabikui Bisco Season 2 Release Date
Season 1 of ‘Sabikui Bisco’ premiered on January 11, 2022 and ended on March 29, 2022. The anime consists of 12 episodes, each with a running time of approximately 21-25 minutes. As for the future of the series, here’s everything we know so far.
Studio OZ has not yet renewed ‘Sabikui Bisco’ for a new episode. In addition, other companies involved in the production and distribution of the show have remained silent so far. When it comes to anime refreshes, one of the most critical factors is the availability of source material. ‘Sabikui Bisco’ has so far covered only four of the eight volumes of Shinji Cobkubo’s light novel series.
So there is still enough material for a next episode. Moreover, the anime also has a good overall rating on several credible online platforms, which means that most of the fans liked the series and of course would like it to return with a new season. It’s worth noting, however, that the total viewership so far has been frankly disappointing. Assuming the show’s popularity increases in the coming months, the series will most likely be renewed for another episode soon.
The estimated production cycle of the first episode was about 9-10 months. With COVID-19 no longer a major factor, hopefully production will run smoothly with no delays. With the above factors considered, one can reasonably conclude that ‘Sabikui Bisco’ Season 2 will premiere sometime. early 2024†
Sabikui Bisco Season 2 Plot: What Could It Be About?
In the Season 1 finale, Bisco transforms and attacks the Kurokawa Tetsujin, but barely makes any impact. He is advised by Tyrol to focus all his powers on the iron mask. He then joins forces with Pawoo to launch a fierce attack, after which the mask eventually falls off. But the relentless attacks on the duo don’t stop there. Tetusjin is eventually destroyed when Bisco uses the Rust Eater mushrooms. After a fight to the death, Pawoo is chosen as the new governor of Imihama, while Bisco and Milo leave the region after giving officials a Rust Eater shot so they can protect themselves.
In Season 2, the Japanese government will demand the immediate arrest of Milo and Bisco and label them as wanted criminals. They will be searched by the crime law enforcement agencies to help people for free. Meanwhile, Bisco’s health deteriorates and he finds himself in a world full of problems. To do something about it, he and Milo go to Shimane, where they will meet the immortal monk Kelshinha.
