Kaguya-sama: Love Is War Season 3 Episode 8 Recap
As the high school cultural festival is about to be held, Miyuki asks his sister Kei if she can give him feedback on his idea for the same. At that moment she inquires about the outfit he will be wearing for the festival. When Miyuki shows off his plain black clothes, Kei is furious and tells him she won’t talk to him if he doesn’t change things up and become cool enough to earn her attention.
Miyuki immediately changes clothes and comes back in a new outfit before her eyes, only to make her even more disappointed. Kei tells her brother that he looks like an eighth grader and needs seriously better clothes. When Miyuki just tries to change the clothes he’s wearing in the hopes that Kei will find something, he makes her even angrier. Kei checks Miyuki’s wardrobe so she can think of a possible combination that isn’t as embarrassing as the clothes he’s wearing now.
Unfortunately, despite her best efforts, Kei is forced to give up, as her brother’s clothes typically have no fashion sense, and she strongly believes that even an eighth-grader would be ashamed of it. When their father finds out what his children are discussing, he tells Miyuki to bring his wristwatch, which he claims was taken to the moon by the Apollo 11 crew. He goes on to explain that he had to save almost three years to pay for the watch.
However, the precious watch is clearly quite old and Kei is not impressed at all. She tells her brother to drop the idea of wearing it to the festival. But now Kei realizes that she has a lot of work to do. To make Miyuki more presentable so that he doesn’t embarrass her, she immediately decides to take him shopping. The brother-sister duo buy new clothes and the next day, at the festival, Kei’s friends are impressed by her brother.
Kaguya-sama: Love Is War Season 3 Episode 8 Ending: What’s the Story Behind the Hoshin Cultural Festival? What are the myths associated with it?
While preparing for the Hoshin Cultural Festival, Kaguya becomes curious about a heart-shaped necklace she saw the year before. So she asks Tsubame about it, who is surprised that Kaguya has no idea about the story behind the festival. She explains that several centuries ago in a certain country there lived a princess who was seriously ill. Her father, naturally concerned, began to pray for her well-being. Then he received a heavenly message that he should burn the heart of a young man in fire and then mix the ashes with the daikon radish juice.
The princess only gets better when she drinks it. As the news spread in the kingdom, a man who loved the princess offered his heart, and apparently local historical records from the 8th century claim it ultimately saved the princess’s life. Kaguya does not believe the story and believes that the ruler must have discussed the story for some motive at the time. However, Tsubame goes on to explain that that’s why the necklace is inspired by the same story, and it’s even claimed that people who gift it to their loved ones are blessed with everlasting love.
Will Kaguya confess to Miyuki?
After Kaguya learns the importance of gifting the heart-shaped necklace to someone, Kaguya continues to ponder the idea of eternal love. She begins to imagine different scenarios in her head and tries to come up with a plan so that she can gift Miyuki the heart-shaped souvenir without looking suspicious. Kaguya confesses to Hayasaka that she likes the president and begins to consider proposing to him.
As the obvious negative scenarios begin to demotivate her, she tries to be as positive as possible. She takes heart from the fact that Ishigami is also seriously considering confessing his feelings to his crush. While Kaguya is just making up his mind in this episode, fans can finally expect her to make the big move once the manga’s double confession is covered in upcoming episodes.
