The brother-sister duo of Gyuutarou and Daki is the main antagonist of ‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc’ or ‘Kimetsu no Yaiba: Yuukaku-hen’. They have lived in Yoshiwara, a red light district of Tokyo, for decades and have even managed to track down a few Hashiras. Since they have never tasted defeat, nothing can prepare them for the things that happen when the duo fights Tanjirou Kamado and his companions. But where do the two end up after losing the highest stakes battle in the Entertainment District Arc? Let’s find out. SPOILERS FORWARD!!!
Have Gyuutarou and Daki ended up in Hell?
Yes, Gyuutarou and Daki have gone to hell. After the demons of the Upper-Rank Six are beheaded, the brother-sister duo begins to argue. They blame each other for their defeat and do not want to take any responsibility for the loss. In the heat of the moment, Daki calls Gyuutarou ugly with anger and claims she regrets being born his sister. At the time, the first holder of the Upper-Rank Six had no idea that Daki didn’t really mean what she just blurted, and her words ended up hurting him a lot.
As his sister’s headless head faded into thin air before his eyes, Gyuutarou was overcome with grief. He began to remember his early life in the poverty-stricken region of the entertainment district called Rashomon River Bank. From an early age, Gyuutarou was always hated for his ugly face, and the appalling conditions of his hometown forced his mother to try to kill him on several occasions. In the end, he survived each time, and when his sister was born, his life finally started to change for the better. They learned to fight for their survival, but eventually became many enemies.
One day, Daki was burned alive, and Gyuutarou’s only reason for happiness seemed to slip from his hands when a higher-ranking demon offered the brother-sister duo to join Muzan Kibutsuji’s troops. They then became the joint holders of the Upper-Rank Six and killed several Hashira in their lives. In his last moments, Gyuutarou confessed that he had no regrets about anything, as he had received nothing but hatred from the world from birth. He turned the tables and ended up punishing everyone he met in his life after turning into a demon.
However, there was one thing that hurt him a lot. As an older brother, he failed to give Daki the right environment and lessons to thrive. The only thing he felt bad about was leaving his sister, who was his pride. After their deaths, he wanted to change that. In the afterlife, he tried to sever all his ties with Daki so she could finally find peace in heaven. However, his sister protested and asked for forgiveness for her unkind words. She confessed that she only said those things because she knew she was weak.
Daki didn’t want to take the blame for their defeat, which made her angry and spiteful. Now she no longer ran away from guilt and accepted her mistakes that cost the two demons their lives. She hugged his brother and confessed that she would never leave him, even if it meant going to hell with him. Moved by her words, Gyuutarou doesn’t argue back as the brother-sister duo calmly walks into Hellfire, glad they have each other’s support.
