In the fourth episode of “Yofukashi no Uta” or “Call of the Night,” titled “Isn’t This a Tight Squeeze?” Akira struggles with insomnia, while Kou is embarrassed to face Nazuna after their first kiss. Later that evening, Akira spends the night at Nazuna’s apartment and learns the truth about their relationship. Here’s everything you need to know about the ending of ‘Call of the Night’ Episode 4. SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
Call of the Night Episode 4 Recap
At school, Akira watches intently as a teacher scolds a student for sleeping in class. If he claims that he is not getting enough sleep, the teacher tells the whole class to consider their sleeping habits as it would be best for them to develop a good habit at an early age. Akira, who has been sleeping less for quite some time, understands the value of the advice but doesn’t know how to deal with her own demons.
Later that night, she tries to sleep, but repetitive thoughts keep her awake no matter how hard she tries. Meanwhile, as always, Kou manages to sneak out of his house without arousing any suspicion. He goes to the playground near the apartment and sees Nazuna sitting alone. Kou finds it odd that he’s been able to find her so easily, as it’s notoriously difficult for him to get hold of her most nights. However, he just walks away from the playground without meeting Nazuna.
Kou is still overwhelmed by the kiss they shared the previous night and has no idea how he should behave in front of her. He walks to different spots in the city under the stars and ponders the significance of the incident. He concludes that he has most likely fallen in love with her and can finally fulfill his wish to become a vampire. Fortunately, Nazuna eventually finds him alone. When she confronts him, he also shares his thoughts on the kiss, stating that it’s the right time for her to turn him into a vampire.
Without any argument, Nazuna drinks her blood. But Kou is shocked that he hasn’t turned into a vampire. Nazuna says it’s not shocking at all as he is clearly not in love yet and was just sexually aroused after the kiss. Since Kou has never had such an experience in the past, he cannot tell the difference between love and lust. Meanwhile, Akira, unable to sleep, decides to put on her school dress as usual.
While walking, she accidentally runs into Kou, who invites her to Nazuna’s apartment so the three of them can spend some quality time together. Curious about Kou’s relationship and wanting the best for her boyfriend, Akira decides to join the couple.
Call of the Night Episode 4 Ends: What does Akira learn about Kou and Nazuna’s relationship after spending the night with them?
After Kou takes Akira to Nazuna’s apartment, the trio casually play a few games together. Akira keeps a close eye on the couple and tries to understand the dynamics of their relationship. She can’t help but believe that his friends trust a vampire enough to date her. So she honestly tells Kou that while she wants to support his decisions, she can’t understand why she would want to go out with Nazuna, whom she calls an obscene monster. Kou argues too much, but he halfheartedly defends Nazuna.
The trio plays video games again and Akira sits quietly for a while. She watches Nazuna make lewd jokes and is super friendly with her. Though she called her an obscene monster a while ago, she’s starting to think his friends’ relationship seems very healthy. Akira is also relieved to learn that Kou is uncomfortable talking about sexual topics and not openly discussing his fantasies.
However, she is quite shocked when she hears that his friend is sleeping with Nazuna. Although she naturally misunderstands things, Kou clarifies everything soon after. Because it’s raining outside, Akira can’t leave Nazuna’s apartment and has to share the blanket with the couple. The trio sleeps side by side after Nazuna drinks Kou’s blood.
Akira also finds out that her boyfriend only becomes a vampire when she falls in love with Nazuna and then she drinks his blood. By the end of the evening, she’s finally starting to feel a lot more comfortable with Kou’s dating choices. She even tells him that they will remain friends even if he becomes a vampire. Meanwhile, Kou has also become very open to her and also realizes that she cares about him a lot.
