The 20th episode of ‘Attack on Titan’ Season 4 focuses entirely on the memories of Grisha Yeager, Eren’s father. Zeke is curious about what motivated Eren to betray him, and he thinks their father probably manipulated and influenced him from a very young age. The keeper of the Beast Titan no longer has any respect for Grisha Yeager, as he thinks his father was a depraved man who could easily sacrifice his family for Eldia’s recovery. After Zeke reveals that he received the Founding Titan’s powers from Ymir, Zeke takes Eren through Grisha Yeager’s memories. He thinks it was their father who manipulated Eren from a young age that eventually led him to betray his own half-brother. To be sure of the origins of Eren’s nationalism and his unforgivable actions after their arrival at the Coordinate, the holder of the Beat Titan feels he must show his brother Grisha’s memories so that he can finally find the truth for himself.

He shows Eren how Grisha used his high status as a doctor to build relationships with people in positions of power so that he could ultimately use them to his advantage. Zeke’s analysis seems correct at first, and Eren even agrees with his conclusions so that his brother stops looking at the memories once and for all. However, Zeke feels that they are not short of time, so there is no reason to stop.

When Grisha finally finds King Reiss’ base, he couldn’t muster the courage to acquire the Founding Titan and return home to hug Eren. At this point, Zeke realizes that his father may not have committed himself to Eldia’s recovery in the way he had envisioned. When Grisha privately mourns the death of his first wife and acknowledges that he should never have forced his political ideologies on his young son, the keeper of the Beast Titan is moved by his words. Finally, he begins to realize that he was wrong about many things.

When Zeke sees Eren brutally murdering Mikasa’s captors, his brother explains that Grisha never manipulated him into doing anything, and that he was born this way. He could never allow anyone to take his freedom from him. His brother is shocked by the dazzling revelations. When Grisha finally makes it to King of Wall’s base, he confronts the family about stealing the memories of the Eldians and passionately appeals to them to stop the carnage that is about to unfold.

Unfortunately, his appeals fall on deaf ears and he realizes he must kill the entire family in order to acquire the Founding Titan. However, he can hardly muster the courage to hurt children and throws the knife away. Keeping an eye on his father, Eren from the Future reminds him of his responsibilities, after which Grisha murders himself and acquires the Founding Titan. As he stumbles after leaving King of Wall’s base, he realizes that Zeke is right in front of him. He hugs his long-lost child and asks for forgiveness as the son-father duo starts to cry. As Eren watches as the two hug, Grisha tells Zeke to stop Eren.

Attack on Titan Season 4 Episode 20 End: What is the special feature of Attack Titan? How does this affect Eren’s father’s decision on the King of Wall base?

When Grisha confronts King Reiss’ family at the base, the royals ignore his desperate requests to stop the approaching Titans, who are about to take down Wall Maria. They claim that Eldians have committed heinous crimes in the past and that it is time for their retribution. Grisha, however, empathizes with the people, stating that it is cruel for the royal family to steal people’s memories and then expect them to suffer for the crimes committed thousands of years ago.

Frieda, the holder of the Founding Titan, realizes what the man standing in front of her plans to do and reveals that he cannot inherit all the powers, even if he were to eat it. Grisha admits that he is aware of the painful truth because the holder of the Attack Titan can see the memories of his future heirs. The unique feature makes the Attack Titan special. It turns out that it has always been Eren’s future memories that dictated the actions of all past heirs, ultimately leading to the present moment.

So it was actually Eren who influenced the actions of every heir to the Attack Titan, single-handedly keeping the resistance to the king’s self-righteousness alive to this day. When Grisha falters and can’t bring himself to kill the royal children, Eren reminds his father of his duty to restore Eldia. His father knows what Eren plans to do, as he can see the future through the eyes of his sons, and in the end he decides to put his trust in him.

So if there were no memories of Eren, the outcome of Grisha’s confrontation with the royal family could have turned out very differently. However, after the murder of the royal family, Grisha has reservations about his actions that are clearly influenced by his son. Realizing there’s nothing he can do now, he tells Zeke to stop Eren from putting his dangerous plans into action. Since past keepers can see the memories of the Attack Titan’s future heirs, it seems that Grisha has just learned the full scope of Eren’s twisted ideas, which is why he asks Zeke not to let him pass .
