Ascendance of a Bookworm Season 3 Finale Recap
While Count Buchenwald and the High Bishop try to force Myne into a submission contract, Ferdinand, already at the cathedral, comes to her aid. He wastes no time holding back the latter. However, Count Buchenwald is much stronger by nature and determined not to give up easily. While Myne creates a protective shield for his family, Ferdinand starts fighting Buchenwald until Sylvester, along with Karstedt, arrives there and asks him to stop.
Everyone, including Myne’s family, bows to Sylvester, which naturally confuses her until her father tells her the shocking truth – Sylvester is actually the current ruler of Ehrenfest. When he gives the people permission to speak, Count Buchenwald wastes no time asking him to punish Myne for using magic on a nobleman, despite being a commoner. However, he is shocked when Sylvester claims that he has adopted her and that she is no longer just an ordinary citizen who could be punished.
Sylvester realizes what Buchenwald, the High Bishop and their companions have done and decides to have them executed. He then tells Myne to call her family to finalize the adoption process so all terms can be discussed with them. The main character has an emotional encounter with his sister and parents, who of course do not want her to be adopted.
Tired of putting their lives in danger, however, Myne has decided that it will be better for her and her loved ones if she finally moves in with a nobleman as his daughter. Children with the devour can enjoy several benefits after being adopted. Therefore, Ferdinand Myne has been proposing his adoption plan for a long time, although the main character has been reluctant until now.
Ascendance of a Bookworm Season 3 Finale Ending: How Is Myne Adopted By Sylvester? What are the conditions drawn up by him?
Myne first met Sylvester during the Spring Prayer and he stayed with her throughout the multi-day ritual. Before saying goodbye to her, he handed the main character a magical talisman and asked her to use it only if she had a big problem. Before confronting the High Bishop and Buchenwald, Myne even rubbed her blood on it, assuming Sylvester would come to her rescue.
However, nothing like that happened. It turns out that the talisman is just a magical item that enters into a contract (in this case, Myne’s adoption contract) once a blood seal is used. Since the main character has already done that, she can technically be called Sylvester’s daughter even before the terms of the adoption contract have been told to her parents. Later, when Myne’s family meets her at the cathedral, they are invited to meet with Ferdinand and Sylvester.
The adoptive father stipulates that her parents must tell others that Myne has died. Moreover, they can no longer call her their daughter and greet her as a noble when they meet her in the future. Since Myne has already made up his mind, her parents also accept all the terms in the hope that it will eventually help them and their daughter live a peaceful life.
Why does Sylvester spare Delia’s life? What punishment does Myne give her?
Once Buchenwald, the High Bishop and his companions are detained, Sylvester decides to have them executed for their reckless actions that endangered the lives of so many people. Since Delia has been working with the High Bishop, she also believes that she is going to die. However, Myne does not want her friend, who was clearly under the influence of a much more powerful man, to be punished. Therefore, she asks that the ruler of Ehrenfest forgive her.
But since she’s taken part in all the mess and helped the High Bishop, Sylvester tells Myne she needs some form of punishment and leaves it to her to decide Delia’s fate. The main character tells Delia that she has to go back to the orphanage and take care of Dirk and others there for the rest of her life. Myne’s kindness and compassion move Delia, who thanks her before leaving the cathedral.
How are Ferdinand and Sylvester related? Why did the high priest go to the temple?
Although Ferdinand and Sylvester have been around each other for a while, they have never revealed to others that they are half brothers. So when Myne hears about their relationship, she’s stunned too. The High Priest was actually born as a result of an affair between Sylvester’s father, the Sixth Aub Ehrenfest, and his mistress. Unfortunately, Sylvester’s mother, Veronica, was cruel to Ferdinand and never treated him like a child.
Because of Veronica’s continued harassment, Sylvester advised Ferdinand to join the temple. It also made sure that Ferdinand would stay away from noble politics and also less likely to become the successor to the Sixth Aub Ehrenfest – which is exactly how things eventually unfolded. So, not only are Ferdinand and Sylvester related, but it turns out they are half brothers. Furthermore, Ferdinand did not join the temple of his own accord, but noble politics and his brother played a major role in the decision.
