Ascendance of a Bookworm Season 3 Episode 9 Recap
While on her way to her home with her friends and under the protection of a knight, Myne’s safety is jeopardized when the nobleman from the previous day has re-entered the gates. Damuel has a verbal dispute with one of the soldiers stationed on the ground when he learns that the captain has gone to the cathedral to check that Myne was safe. In all the chaos, the main character is left unattended and two men manage to kidnap her along with Tuuli.
Fortunately, Myne’s father shows up in time and notices that both kidnappers are trying to flee with the children. Without wasting a second, he manages to jump on one of them and free Myne. When the blue-clad priestess notices that the other thief is trying to run away with Tuuli, she loses control of her mana through excessive anger and threatens to kill him when he tries to put a knife to her friend’s neck.
Her overwhelming powers manage to bring the kidnapper to his knees in just seconds, and Tuuli is also freed, after which the two men are arrested. Accompanied by her friends, Damuel and others, Myne immediately goes to the cathedral. To everyone’s surprise, the High Priest goes missing for some reason. Damuel gives Myne a ring to keep some of her mana in it.
Meanwhile, in the presence of Dalia, an adoption contract is signed for Dirk by Lord Bindewald. The High Bishop is also present and Dalia cannot contain her excitement. However, Myne and her companions have already figured out that something is wrong. They confront the High Bishop and Bindewald at the cathedral. The latter herself wanted to meet the blue-clad priestess in person.
To Dalia’s horror, it is revealed that Bindewald has not only adopted Dirk, but has also ingeniously been awarded a submission contract. Under the cruel terms, Dirk will have to spend much of his later life serving the wishes of the twisted nobleman who only wants power. While Dalia feels betrayed, Bindewald isn’t done yet when he orders his guards to attack Myne’s companions and her.
He gives them the freedom to kill everyone except the blue-clad priestess, with whom, like Dirk, he wants to conclude a submission contract. The excess mana Myne possesses can be very valuable to Bindewald, who lost several soldiers in the failed ambush a few weeks ago. But to his surprise, Myne doesn’t sit back and watch as her people are attacked as she uses her powers to protect everyone from the nobles.
Ascendance of a Bookworm Season 3 Episode 9 Ending: Can Count Bindewald Make an Submission Contract with Myne?
Once Myne also jumps into the fight that has just started, the two sides finally start to seem a bit similar. However, Bindewald tells the blue-clad priestess that she will not be able to use her powers to attack him because she is wearing a submission ring. Fortunately, the main character has yet to sign a submission contract, so the ring’s securities don’t seem to be as binding as the twisted noble might have wanted. But alas, when the High Bishop uses Dirk as a human shield, Myne remains stunned.
When the High Bishop’s companion takes Myne to the noble’s so that she can sign a contract of submission by force, her father happily saves her at the last minute – knocking down Bindewald. The nobleman uses his powers to attack Gunther, after which the blue-clad priestess loses her temper again. Her mana spirals out of control and breaks any tool that can be used to absorb it. When Bindewald appears to be preparing for another attack, the high priest appears and explains that he has told his guards to lie that he is not in the cathedral.
Now it has become very clear to him that the High Bishop intends to assist the noble in concluding a submission contract, not only with Dirk but also with Myne. Ferdinand decides to take down the two deranged men himself. While it only takes a few seconds to subdue the High Bishop with his powers, Bindewald fights back. However, Myne is also there to assist the High Priest as they both prepare for an all-out battle. In short, Bindewald fails to sign a surrender contract with Myne.
