Ascendance of a Bookworm Season 3 Episode 8 Recap
At the cathedral, Myne is interrogated by Delia, who is furious after learning that Dirk will soon be adopted by a nobleman. The main character does not lie to her about the adoption, but claims that she suggested the idea to the High Priest, which is clearly not the case. However, it doesn’t make Delia any less angry that her little brother will soon be moving elsewhere.
Myne reassures her that even with the high priest desperate for the right candidate for Dirk’s adoption, the chances of him being taken by a noble are negligible. She goes on to say that she knows the pain of separating from the family; therefore she will not let Dirk suffer the same fate. Delia is overjoyed that she will be with her brother for much longer.
Meanwhile, Myne learns that her colleagues have developed the fixative and has an appointment with her. Impressed by Heidi’s dedication to developing better and more colorful inks, she decides to fund her research, provided production is not hindered. Later, when she goes to the market with Lutz and others, something happens at the east gate of the city. Myne and others rush to safety.
She later learns that a nobleman who was denied access is trying to cause unnecessary commotion. However, the rules are now very clear, no one is allowed to enter the gate without the permission of the Lord. Fortunately, the Knights reacted quickly and managed to bring the situation under control before it escalated further.
The High Bishop is clearly very upset that people in the cathedral have kept things secret and even injured one of his servants in anger. Meanwhile, Myne manages to return to the cathedral after waiting in her house for five days. When she arrives, however, she receives some very disturbing news.
Ascendance of a Bookworm Season 3 Episode 8 Ending: Is Dirk Adopted? Why is Delia suddenly okay with the decision?
Realizing that she could lose her younger brother, Delia meets the High Bishop to explain to him the dilemma that has been troubling her for some time. Since the High Bishop, of course, understands that the young boy is an asset, he tells his informant that she can entrust her brother to him. While adoption usually requires the Lord’s permission, this rule does not apply when the adoption is made by a nobleman from another region. That’s what happens in the case of Dirk, who finds the new family.
Delia, who had been nervous about the adoption until now, is surprisingly calm. It intrigues Myne, who eventually asks Delia for clarification. The servant claims that the High Bishop has assured her that Dirk will stay with him until he is of age. So she can visit him regularly in the special room built by the bishop, which will absorb the excess mana that makes Dirk sick. Myne listens patiently to Delia, but it is clear that she sees loopholes in the whole story and is also beginning to doubt her counselor’s previous emotional outbursts over Dirk’s adoption.
How is Myne kidnapped?
The enemies have been trying to kidnap Myne for quite some time, and it’s no hidden secret that Head Priest has left no stone unturned to protect her. But the day after learning that Dirk has been adopted, Myne is visited by Lutz and others eager to take her back home. With the knights accompanying them, the journey seems fairly safe, but things change drastically along the way.
They meet Mr. Otto, who tells them about the nobleman from the previous day, who has come through the gates today and is nowhere to be found. While the Knight accompanying Myne and looking for her friends elsewhere, an unknown man kidnaps the main character from behind and starts running away. However, they are immediately chased by Myne’s friends and the knights with her.
