Ascendance of a Bookworm Season 3 Episode 4 Recap
When Myne meets Sylvester, he teases her by tugging at her cheeks and annoys her with his immature antics. Tolerating everything, when he tries to take her hairpin, she suddenly loses control of her mana and luckily Damuel and Karstedt intervene to save the day by patting Sylvester on the head. Knowing that Sylvester won’t stop at anyone’s request, Ferdinand tells others to make sure that Myne stays away from her at all times.
Soon after, they use the highbeasts to travel to a nearby farming village, where they meet the farmers and begin performing rituals, followed by spring prayers. Myne uses her mana to slowly fill a gold utensil which is then distributed among the farmers so they can use it to fertilize their soil. The ceremony ends with priests, priestesses and the peasants expressing their gratitude to the gods and goddesses in exchange for their protection.
Nobles entrusted by the Lord with the responsibility of watching over farming villages are given luxurious estates to live in. They stay there from the spring prayers to the harvest festival, eventually returning to the noblemen’s district in the winter to pay taxes and make an annual report. That is why it is crucial to visit the farmers, especially during the spring prayers as the kingdom is highly dependent on them. While the nobles live in the estates, the priests are given the outbuilding for their temporary residence. After the prayers, Myne and others stay overnight at Baron Blon’s estate. Once they’ve eaten, they relax by playing the resin game while Karstedt and Sylvester show off their sword fighting skills.
The next day they head for Viscount Gerlach’s estate, but instead of using the highbeasts, Ferdinand recommends using the carriages. Once alone with Myne, he advises her to always be on her guard and alludes to his suspicion of Gerlach. After meeting him and introducing Myne, Ferdinand tells him that they will be staying with Count Leisgang without mentioning the security issues that have been worrying him for some time. Gerlach seems disappointed, but tries to sound carefree and offers them his good wishes.
Unfortunately, by the time Myne reaches Count Leisgang’s estate, she falls ill and goes to bed early. The next morning, she is informed by Ferdinand and others that there are some intruders at night who probably want to kidnap her. While one of them mysteriously exploded while Karstedt was chasing him, the other committed suicide when Ferdinand tried to disarm him. Myne and others barely managed to get that kidnapping attempt out of their minds when the carriages they were supposed to use were attacked using the God of Darkness barrier.
Ascendance of a Bookworm Season 3 Episode 4 Ending: How do Myne and her compatriots relive the ambush?
After completing their morning and evening tasks, Myne and others use their chieftains to overtake the carriages so they can use them for the rest of their journey. However, they are shocked to see that the God of Darkness barrier has been used on them. While Myne plans to use her mana, Damuel is quick to point out that any attack using it will be ineffective.
Desperate to help Rosina and Fran, who are likely to suffer serious injuries in the carriages if Myne isn’t fast enough, she decides to pray to the gods to use magic instead. Ferdinand, aware of the disastrous consequences if things go wrong, tries to get Myne to pray specifically to the Goddess of the Wind. It turns out to be good advice if a shield is formed over the God of Darkness barrier.
Meanwhile, Sylvester takes care of the decoys that supposedly come from the forest. The situation is soon brought under control and the worst consequences are averted, but Myne loses consciousness and wakes up the next night. Ferdinand informs her about the welfare of others and gives her the medicine he carries for these kinds of situations.
